Robotics Camp - Day 2

Day 2 at Robotics Camp was filled with more building and programming.  The Five-Minute Bot turned out to take more than five minutes, but it sure was cool.  Accessorizing the bots was a favorite thing to do.  This bot taught us how to go forward, backward, and program different kinds of turns.  But the fun time came with creating our own programs.  This project led to the next project - the Snowmobile Racers.  Different gears are built into each snowmobile to give an idea of how gears work with speed and distance.  Can't wait for tomorrow.

Robotics Summer Camp - Day 1

Today was Day 1 of my Robotics Summer Camp.  After learning about the equipment, our first robot to build was a Top Spinner.  Building, programming and creating all came together for the teams as they ran their first program and watched their top spin at high speed.  We then had a contest to see which top would spin the longest.  Team 2 (Ryan M. & Jacob A) built the longest spinning top.

Unidentified Flying Objects

What are all the computer class students doing outside chasing and catching Unidentified Flying Objects?  Well, to celebrate a successful semester of keyboarding and "Soaring To New Levels", students designed their own whirlybird in Microsoft Publisher.  Today we spent our last computer class flying our whirlybirds.  What fun!!!  Have a great summer to all my students and I will see you next year in my new lab.

REACH FOR THE SKY . . .

. . . AND SOAR TO NEW LEVELS!  Second semester was a challenge for grades 2-6 in Computer Class - Keyboard Challenge, that is.  I challenged students to beat 25 levels of keyboarding.  If they beat all levels, they earned a tethered ride in a hot air balloon.  Mr. Gregg Sturge piloted his balloon, Fireball, with the help of Alice Long and their entire crew.  The weather was perfect and the event was a success.  I had so much fun watching the kids have an exciting morning.

After Rise and Shine (8:45)

I am so proud of all the students here at All Saints.  Every student worked so hard and soared to new levels.  This challenge was just that, a challenge.  But they all met the challenge by soaring to the level they were ready to reach.  Good job students.  Enjoy the balloon.

ATTENTION ALL GIRLS!!!!

Are you missing your favorite headband?  If so, check my computer lab.  This year I have had a record number of pretty little headbands left in the lab due to students using the headphones.

Computer Parts Design

Kindergarten and First grade reviewed the parts of a computer and then used their creativity to design a computer, on the computer.

Animation Motion Show Winners

Students created cool short animation shows and presented them to the younger students in the school.  The younger students voted on their favorites as follows:

1st Place - "Action Dog" by Jacob A.

3rd Place - "Light" by Garrett A.

What's with the Paper Towels?

Students in 5/6th Tech Ed learned how to use the keyboard number keypad during class this week.  They covered they hands with a paper towel to keep from looking at the numbers.  This helps them memorize the placement of the numbers for faster data entry.
